i find it weird gen 4 save files are bigger then gen 6 when gen 6 has more box slots and more pokemon and data to store
 
iwonder what happens if you put an ar in your 3ds and try to use this app
Well, I just tried, here is the result:

It seems it can read and save the "save file" correctly, although it is awfully small :P
 
This probably works in order to act like a real cartridge in order to bypass anti-piracy checks done by the system.

there was a 3DS system update a long time ago that checked if a game had save data to try and block flash carts. let me see if I can find it...
 
if you're still wondering: I dumped the .sav from my "R4 SDHC" cart, and it's just a 512 byte file with all "FF"
 
My gateway blue card also had a valid save area that TWLSaveTool was able to dump. Seemed to be mostly dummy data though as I would expect. :P
out of curiosity, what does it contain exactly if you use a hex editor or something? don't know what the blue card does
