What exactly is that 'utilizing another app' thing?
I've never used that, also not in RetroArch

It took me some research to uderstand it (nobody answered me ) but when you select the 3dsx , the homebrew launcher will ask you to select another app that will be used (I guess) to allocate more resources than the launcher can usually allocate.

In the folder (release) is an file with the name: scummvm.xml
in that xml file are the apps needed for the app to run.
If none of the apps found it will present you the dialoge: "'utilizing another app"
So if none of that apps are present in your 3DS the homebrew will not run!

Sorry that are the rules :)

Thats not complete correct because i played Simon the Sorcerer 1 + 2 without any problems and they from categorie C.
But anyway i dont think that the list for the DS is a proper resource for the 3DS.

It seems that only games for build "A" are working at the moment http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Nintendo_DS
i wish i could play Goblins2!
That list is unrelated to this port, that's for the only NDS port. I will be compiling a separate list of compatible games as mentioned in OP. People's comments thusfar have helped.

But you're right that the Goblins engine is not yet included. It will be eventually.

It means, you have to have 1 of those apps or demo's installed on your System.
If none is found ScummVM will not run
So basicly, if you want to run ScummVM, install YouTube or MH4U Special Demo / MH4U (eShop) or Super Smash Bros Special Demo / Super Smash Bors (eShop)

But if a cia version will be successfully compiled, we don't need that extra app right?

Works fine for me. Here's my CIA build: https://github.com/Cruel/scummvm/releases/download/3ds/0.1/scummvm-cia-0.1.zip

Let me know if it works okay, I need to fix my EmuNAND as it's not showing installed CIAs on menu lol, but it launches fine from FBI.

Yes, it needs all included files in /3ds/scummvm/ and it will remain that way. (it also stores the .ini config file and game saves there)
