Do you use EmuNAND? If so you have to start it from within your EmuNAND, not from themehax/menuhax.

Thanks so much for the pointers! That's exactly where things went wrong I think. But since I have no idea how to run MHGen save manager in EmuNand, I used the .cia version of JKSM as Jesus10101 suggested and the import finally went through successfully. Time to continue my adventures.

For future reference, there's a CIA homebrew launcher that you can install on your EmuNAND: https://github.com/yellows8/hblauncher_loader/releases
There's also a CIA version of MHX Data Manager (QR code in the first post) :)

Is there any known issue with q1010137.arc? The manager just skips this very quest for me when importing. Like, it doesn't show up neither in the bottom screen log of the tool nor in-game.
I tried a self-dumped converted version of the quest and one I found online, neither worked. Both look fine when opened in your editor tool. It's the Hyper Gold Rathian DLC quest btw.

Works fine for me. Downloaded it in MHX, exported, converted, imported into MHGen. Are you using Windows? Make sure the file extension isn't being hidden.

Hello, I am currently trying to import a custom quest into my game file, but whenever I open my MHG, the game crashes and doesn't load. After 3 hours of trial and error, I can't seem to decipher what means what and what goes where, I even created this account just for this purpose. I'm currently very inexperienced and would like some help as to what I should do. These are things that I'm having trouble using/figuring out (yes I have Homebrew and the data export/import app on my 3DS):

1) What do all of the functions in the web browser editor do (Ex: Entry Type Combo?, BGM Type?, etc.)? All of the details are so vague, I just feel lost and would appreciate an explanation on what value results in what
2) how do you import an output.arc custom quest file into your save file?
3) what application (if it matters) do you need to import the file into your save?

Thank you for your help and your time!

1) The titles are vague because that's all I know. They are taken from the game's code and I'm not sure exactly what they all do. Did you read the quest editor thread? You might find some more info there: http://gbatemp.net/threads/release-mhx-quest-editor.409420/
2) You have to name it like the quest ID. So if the quest ID for your quest is "1010001", then you need to rename the "output.arc" file to "q1010001.arc".
3) Use the application from the first post. Put your quest in the "/3ds/mhx_data_manager/quest/eur/" folder (assuming you're using the EUR version of the game) and use the "Import Quests" option.

1) I read the thread, I can't seem to find anything of relevance in the thread for everything... I am hoping somebody figures this out, but I'll try and figure it out as well
2) i didn't know that, thank you for your help and for the 3rd i just downloaded it and will see if it works!

I just made a change to the editor so it will automatically name the file correctly :)

Thanks! I also have a question about spawning monsters in the game. I know which tab you use to insert them, but I am curious as to how you specify which monster spawns where?

*update* i got everything to work (i think) but now my quest won't show in the event quest counter. Any tips?

Last edited by Priam,
I just want to confirm something. I went through the whole quest lists but there wasn't any quests that gives the item "Option" for Strider equipment. Would this perhaps be from a quest with dummied out tickets?

I think there was 4 quests that gave dummies right? Sanrio, Macross Delta, Monster Hunter Spirits and Kirimi Sushi thingie?

are there any reasons for why a custom quest won't even show in the game? I wrote over the first DLC (the one with Glavenus at low rank) in the Frozen Seaway, HR, 5 monsters, and the quest ID's and Names match. Anybody know why this isn't working?

*update* the game currently is still not showing the quest at the Hub counter, and i'm not sure as to why this is occurring
*update* It seems that the quest works with one monster, but the moment i add a second monster and its coordinates, the quest doesn't show at the quest counter. Why is this?

Last edited by Priam,
Is there a way to mass convert a group of JPN DLC Quests? Or do we really have to do it one by one?

EDIT:

So I did a simple bash script to loop the on all files and convert them one by one. I see there's no confirmation if a conversion is a success. But I got the output files on my output folder.

I'm going to test it now.

EDIT2:

OK. It worked! Gotta try out these quests with my friends. Thanks!

Looking at the MHGen item list, there are 4 items that are dummied out. I'm not familiar with that set though, what quest ID gives the ticket in MHX?

Can somebody explain to me how I add multiple monsters to a quest, because whenever I try to, the quest doesn't show at the quest counter.

It's easiest to start with a quest that already has multiple monsters and just modify it. But make sure you have a rEmSetMain file for each boss monster and that you point to them at the end of your rQuestData file.

ok, I've been pointing the rEmSetMain file for each monster at the end, filling out the quest req. as "hunt all large monsters", and leaving the spawn coordinates on all axes at 0 but in different areas. The quest still won't show, I'm not sure what I need to correct
