HBInjector is a simple homebrew application which allows you to replace a system app with VitaShell.
When replacing applications, a backup is stored in ux0:data/HBInjector/NPXS100XX/, so you will be able to recover the application in the future if necessary.
HBInjector now has a restore feature for these backups.

This is useful for HENkaku Enso 3.65 users, as VitaShell is wiped when formatting the Vita. It's a bit of a hassle to get back, so this tool makes sure you can access VitaShell even after formatting. This is also compatible with 3.60 however.

Be warned that this does reset your icon layout.

HBInjector is a simple homebrew application which allows you to replace a system app with VitaShell.

You can currently replace one of the four apps with VitaShell
  • near
  • Parental Controls
  • Party
  • Calendar
When replacing applications, a backup is stored in ux0:data/HBInjector/NPXS100XX/, so you will be able to recover the application in the future if necessary.
HBInjector will soon have a restoring feature for these backups.

Be warned that this does reset your icon layout. I'm going to fix that soon though.

This is good for not needing the Official Vita Memory Card, as an emergency device, since it has vita shell installed on it should something happen.

1. Removed the sd2vita memory card, and inserted the 3.65 Official Vita Memory used to install 3.65 with vitashell on it
2. ran "HBInjector.vpk", after install from vitashell, replacing the "party" app, rebooted with only official vita memory card still inside
3. icon layout reset on official vita memory card, confirmed "party" app is now vita shell 1.82, also, vita shell 1.82 is still installed from Official Mem card
4. copied this folder to pc for backup "ux0:data/HBInjector"
5. removed "Official Vita Mem Card" (that was used to install 3.65), replacing with sd2vita card
6. Icon Layout on sd2vita card, just moved icons from the first page in other places not a big deal
7. removes the need to have an Official Memory Card as an Emergency Device!

(had to delete ""ux0:data/HBInjector" from the official memory card, before attempting another install on a separate "pstv" device, because it would not install properly, that was the backup from the first vita, but I'm sure those files are identical) (just in cast I did reinstall the HBinjector (on the official memory card), after the first failed attempt on the separate "pstv" device)

(after running the "party" app/vitashell (then closing the application), it seems to make the pstv slow in the live area, plus it hanged at power off, twice out of three power off tries after use, that very minor in my opinion, so this is a must have) (it's just under 10 bubbles the default system icons added, if you are near the 100 bubble limit, you will probably have some deleted bubbles, you need reinstall those)

Yeah, I removed Party because of this issue.

v1.2 now has an updated UI and supports way more apps than previously.

(installed vitaRW, then manually replaced the eboot.bin file in the ""vs0/APP/NPSX10001 folder, with the eboot.bin in the "HBinjector" backup folder. Restored the "Party" app ... I made the mistake of trying to restore the app using "HBinjector" without running "vitaRW" first, on HBinjector 1.0, since that version did not unlock the partition, maybe true for the current version, anyhow, will update now!)

This time I replaced the "Friends" system app, since I used MLTactivator, won't be connecting to psn to use that feature in the future, I did run "vitaRW" before running "HBinjector 1.2" to install vitashell 1.82 to "Friends", I probably didn't need that step, but, the slow down is fixed after using vitashell in hte system app! (I also took the "HBinjector" backup in the ux0/data folder, I'm still installing this using the Official Vita Memory Card I used to install 3.65 firmware, in hopes that the bubbles are not tossed this time around when reinserting the sd2vita card)

the bubbles are still moved around, but, like before its not a big deal, since the system bubbles add just under 10, and i'm no where where the 100 bubble limit, so no deleted bubbles!

@SylverReZ find me ONE community that is free of drama and politics. even video games forums (like this one) have politics section. and for some reason gamers still take consoles/brands wars seriously. even as a kid i never took the console wars bait despite being a nintendo kid.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
one of the reasons i deleted all my social media accounts, reddit account (although i was rarely using it) etc was to get away from this shit.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Vetusomaru, Sadly, not all communities like to play nice. Forums are pretty much dying despite Discord amongst other social media being available.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
i only kept my twitter accounts and only because many of the artists i like share their art only/mostly at twitter.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
lots of discord groups (even the big ones) are also dead for some reason.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Twitter is way too shittier.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
that's why i added some firefox addons to block shit like twitter trends.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Discord, on the other hand, moderation tends to not be very nice in video game communities from what I had experienced.
