this makes piracy far easier.
So do Torrent clients, but I'm fairly certain that those can be posted here. Regardless, this is advocating piracy as much as the eShop is. Just like Torrent clients, the developers aren't responsible for what the end user does with the software.

(Note: If you pirated Windows 8, the "Free Windows 10" upgrade gave you a legitimate Windows 10 key)
You do know that you can download Windows 10 for free from Microsoft, right? That's still going on until June or so.

No, you can upgrade to Windows 10 for free, you can't go from no windows -> windows 10 for free. However, if you were previously running pirated Windows 8, and did the Upgrade to Windows 10 For Free process, you ended up with a legitimate key for Windows 10 with no tie-in back to your pirated copy of Windows.

tl;dr: I was making fun of the person who said "Maybe Nintendo needs to take a page out of Microsofts book."

Ok, this is a freaking amazing app you made. The times of 3DS hacking have exponentially flourished over the past few months, and now we have an app that can download from Nintendo's servers for free without any external devices (well, at least you'll need a computer once to install the app, but you know what I mean).
I'm slowly lowering my fear about ticket installation and downloading from the official servers, so I might give this a try when it comes out.
Amazing job, man. :)

If you use an OEM loader it's not piracy. :}

Give everyone who pirated a game a free copy of the sequel to that game? Seems like a bad idea (Note: If you pirated Windows 8, the "Free Windows 10" upgrade gave you a legitimate Windows 10 key)
That's a nice try at a comparison. I'm talking games. The One, so far, hasn't been modified to allow piracy. If we are talking Operating System? No. Cracking windows games is nowhere near as difficult.

@TheCruel:

Quick question. I know the eShop clone your making is more piracy based, but for those that want to use their eShop balance, would it be possible for their to be an option for that at all?

The reason I ask is because this app seems Region Free and think it would be cool not to have to buy another 3DS to experience other regions.

Just kind of curious is all lol.

I already replied to you on reddit, but just for the sake of people who don't read that subreddit:

The last thing you want is a homebrew app directly interacting with your eshop account, especially in regards to balance. First off, you'd have to really trust the dev not to make a mistake (the Dev of this is pretty trustworthy), second, you'd be asking for a ban the instant you bought something out of region, because that's something you'd never normally be able to do

I'll research this a little bit. But I will most likely not include any actual account authentication, even if it's possible. But I'll consider it, especially if it's possible to buy games from other regions.

Oh, hey man! I get your point entirely and the risks involved. I was just curious to see if it was possible on a technical level in terms of concept lol.

Thanks man ^O^. I really appreciate that your looking into it! Hopefully it works out!

That's an interesting request. I'm not gonna judge or anything, I'd actually would pay for my games whenever I have the chance (I pirate because it's difficult for me to get any pocket money at all, plus they can get really expensive in this country). Taking away the fact that it's a risky move to make in regards of Nintendo discovering a user as one who downloaded something without paying or has no permission to, I don't see a way on how to connect your NNID account into the app. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I don't know where to start if I were making this.

This is great!
How about adding something like theme support? :P
[swapping out images and BGM in BCSTM format]
Yeah, I can add that to the list of possible things to add, shouldn't be too hard. Of course, that won't be addressed until everything is stable and working.
Will this be as easy as using ciangel? As in do you need to manually download a certain file and place in manually or will your app fetch and download it by itself like ciangel does with wings.json? Since I have to use a computer to update the database every time a new game is released I'll probably just stick to ciangel
Unless something changes, you will need a encTitleKeys.bin file that contains any titlekeys of things you would like to install/browse. How you update or change this is up to you. While I could consider adding something to make it easier, I can't include titlekeys you haven't purchased.
Is it possible to distinguish between EUR/USA etc versions of the content? When You searched for OOT it showed 2 results, I assume those are the EU and US versions. It'd be helpful if I could tell which version I am downloading. Alsi, is it possible to download DLC through this? Other than that, the app looks amazing and really high quality. Can't wait to try it out :)
Ya, the current game list doesn't have any indication lol. I have a bunch of flag icons ready to use, I just haven't added them yet.

Then I will add more filter options so you can choose region, game genre, game rating, and such. Essentially everything useful that the public eshop listings provide.
Woah, that's a very nice GUI you have going on there. Only thing I would like, and I don't know how hard would it be, is the ability to download and install titles with the lid closed.
I looked into this a little, but didn't have much time to spend on it. It's currently unknown how to do this. Downloads are interrupted when closing the lid. But I'll obviously implement that once it's figured out.

rip Nintendo eShop... Nice work!
Now if only we had a way of injecting these games into the Nintendo Network ID so it can be downloaded onto multiple 3DS console that share 1 NNID :unsure:

Here is an idea:

Can you mimic Nintendo's server to install homebrew cia's? (I'm only asking if it's a possibility. Not telling you to do it.)

Awesome work @TheCruel! An open source eShop client is one of the most interesting homebrew ideas that I have seen this year! I love how you are even able to pull the screenshots and descriptions off of the servers! I never liked the eShop search tool, and the one that you have implemented (with an amazing homebrew keyboard) is infinitely better!

I cannot wait to see what else comes from this! Perhaps even the ability to view game trailers and other videos from the servers?

(I normally am against using too many exclamation marks, but this development is too exciting for me to accurately convey my feelings with periods!)
