If you import the EXData, it should work in the japanese game, however the characters will not have names or descriptions.
The thing is, JK Save Manager's ExtData features won't work on Fire Emblem if for me for some reason so I dunno how to import the ExtData.

Edit: Nevermind, SaveDataFiler can do it too.

Maybe a fun idea to revitalize this project: what about using the fire emblem heroes assets like character artwork for these characters and their voicelines (for crits/combat sounds)

No matter that the artstyle is different, just add that green shield and call it an einherjar!
(Awakening did it like that ^_^)

I was actually thinking about changing the characters to using Heroes artwork now, except then they'd be further from matching their sprites, at least in Awakening they were somewhat close to their sprites.

Heroes actually could work well for voice assets. Every character in Heroes has a line for going into battle which could be used for enemy defeated lines and they have lines when using skills that could be used for crits. Things like grunts are pretty self explanitory.

The problem with sound is I doubt that heroes has the files in the correct format (even though some files in the apk are similar format) and I wouldn't be able to build a bscar.

Has sound file conversion hacking not been done on the 3DS?

what tools do you use to make custom extradata and associated fe14unit files for this? FEFEditor seems to only be for romhacking but i havent seen a tool for extradata hacking for adding more character assets or exporting associated unit files that match it to inject into the save file with FEFTwiddler. if there were a tool to streamline the process of editing custom characters it would expand the project for any custom characters to be added.
