And to use ctrtool, put the decrypted romfs in the folder with it, then use this syntax:

ctrtool DecryptedRomFS.bin -t romfs --romfsdir=PATH YOU WANT THE FILES EXTRACTED TO

Thanks, this helped me immensely actually, in combination with your tools.

Someone can make a step by step guide to extract Audio Files from a rom, and can play them easily.

Would really appreciate it

Well it goes kinda like this:
  1. Get the keys from the ROM (ctrkeygen)
  2. Put the resulting file in the SD. Then launch padgen on 3DS
  3. Wait. Might take an hour or so.
  4. Use the generated OTP/XORPad to xor with the ROM. The pad must be the same size as the ROM, if not, cut it.
  5. Use ctrtool to extract content from the romfs. All game data, including models, graphics and sound should be in there.
Additionally vgmstream + fb2k can play bcstm files.

Well, i guess it won't be long before some scene rom dumper decides its a good idea to decrypt, include scene splash screen, re-encrypt and then finally release the rom
Any known cases of that. I don't care if they do this because I'll be dumping my own roms soon.

To what end? Clean dumps are already out there for most everything, and there's no special protections on anything.

Same reason as anything. "BBB dumped this game. We are the 1st". This is what happens rather frequently. They get recognition, more people use their dumps. They make more dumps.

I read all this thread and I'm crying buckets for having my 3DS with 8.1.0-19U. I want to extract the hell out of Pokemon X and NSMB2 :(

My only consolation is that my DSTwo still works with it.

So in order to temporarily alleviate the hour-freeze, I have compiled a series of launchers that start decrypting at a specific MB. The Launchers range from 200MB to 2000MB. If your XORpad freezes at 734MB for example, choose the 700MB launcher and merge the the xorpads appropriately

For some odd reason, the 500MB launcher.dat decided to just skip over the 3rd pad (romfs), leaving it incomplete, and go to the 4th and complete that one (I think it's a system update file), then finish. Not sure why though.
