Like the topic asks, what options are there for booting foreign games (ie. JP) on my PAL-AU 4.0e console? I'm thinking about importing sometime soon.
I tried Gecko191, which wouldn't initialize the rebooter, and I'd rather not have Homebrew Channel as the description each time I play something through Gecko's main launcher. Also tried Menu Loader through Bannerbomb, which restarted the System Menu (which it what it should do), not sure whether it actually did something because I don't have a game disc to test it with yet.

All I have installed so far is DVDx and HBC.
(note: I've read most of the sticky topics here and in 'Wii - Hacking', and still not making sense of anything, so I'd appreciate the help!)

Install Preloader 0.29/0.30 and use the appropriate hack. Preloader offers the option to remove region-locking, among other things, and should allow you to play foreign retail discs on your Wii without any other software.

Read up on Preloader here:
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Preloader

And grab the hacks.ini from here:
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Preloader/hacks#EUR_4.0
(4.0e hacks are the same for all PAL users, European or Australian)

  • K3N1 @ K3N1:
Depends on use for some reason but I avoid any SD card that doesn't have a 2 year warranty

Sounds fair, don't think I can be arsed sending a small microsd in for warranty but eh
  • K3N1 @ K3N1:
I'd assume cards that run 24/7 with constant write transfers would fail quicker
  • K3N1 @ K3N1:
I've had good luck with Team group SD cards cheap and comes with 5 years but void if it's ran 24/7

I have a question about Medicat if anyone can answer.. My windows install is corrupt and wont boot. Does Medicat allow you to run DISM online or do an inlace upgrade? Trying to do some sort of repair install or recovery without a fresh installation
