    Official story here:

    http://wiiuhax.com/wii-u-region-free-drivechip-development-free/

I originally announced this in the following thread: http://gbatemp.net/threads/wii-u-hacking-discussion.367489/page-78

But I'm redirecting the conversation to this specific thread to prevent it from getting any more cluttered than it already is :P. I appreciate all the work that's being done by all the others, but feel like I should give that thread some more breathing room to make it less confusing for random people jumping in to the conversation.

Questions? Comments? Flames? (just kidding about that last part, but I know somebody's going to charm us with some negativity so why not joke about it :P)

Seriously though, this is great work by you, and it's nice to see something under development by someone we can trust *cough*wiikeyu*cough*.

Uhh... How is it gonna work? If it's like the 3DS then region is part of the data of the game itself. And the communications will be encrypted.
Will you just look for a specific address/byte to spoof?

Is this actually something that is definitely possible? It's just this line in the story "My idea for this chip is to write an ASM program that runs on a PIC" makes it sound like it's just an idea/theory, rather than something that is definitely possible.

    Also

Nintendo didn't bother to encrypt communication between the drive and wiiu?, you can just intercept and change as you like?

Will this allow gamepad's with different regions to be connected to a modded Wii U?

E--excuse me, did you just refer to a part of the Wii U code as an exe file, and yet claim to know more about the drive than TSK?

He has the common key and he's been dumping and decrypting a multitude of games, I think he knows what he's talking about.

exe just means executable in general. He doesn't mean the WiiU is running .exe files lol

I am very much looking forward to this. Please tell us which kind of hammer will be required.
