So I've been reading information for the past few hours online and people were saying that all PSP 2001's that are Silver are hackable regardless of their current firmware?

Because this one has 6.30 installed by default, but I can almost guarantee this wasn't the original firmware for this model based on the wear and tear.

I just really want to know if I wasted my money on this investment or not?

For reference the serial number is HU441**** or something like that. I know this is more important to the piano black model but eh....

Please, just try and help me find out if I can hack this. Most of the information I've read is several months out of date or doesn't cover this topic completely.

I think pandora and magic memory stick can hack any firmware. I'm not sure tho.

half-byte loader?
That's all I can think of...

I just read this, if I use the exploit, will the hacked save file automatically allow me to install CFW?

HBL (Half-Byte Loader) can only run Homebrew atm. No CFW or ISOs can be used.

becaus you have a 2000 model it is not garanteed hackable you will neet to find out what type of motherboard it has. you can use a program at this forum to cheack its hackability http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?p=47672#post47672 this thread will give you step-by-step instruction to check it

Shoot. I was hoping I wouldn't need another Homebrew ready PSP to figure this out (like that guide tells me I need).

I have a friend with a PSP phat that's hacked but the batteries are different sizes so I dunno about the Pandora thing.

On top of the fact I don't know the best way to get a self made Pandora battery back to its regular battery state...

Again, sorry for all the questions, any help (and the stuff that's been given already) is greatly appreciated.

are you sure it's hackable?
If it is,couldn't you just run HBL and run hellcat's flash recovery(or something else)?

This is exactly what I'm trying to figure out (and the reason I created this topic in the first place).

Just check the damn serial properly, or the date code....

2000 Series Date Codes go as follows:
7C: Supported by cfw
7D: Supported by cfw
7(Any later Letter): Supported by cfw
8A: Supported by cfw
8B: Supported by cfw
8C: very high chance it's not supported by cfw
8D: Not supported by cfw

If the serial starts with HU2, then the PSP most likely has a TA-088v3 Motherboard. Any other serial (Say starting with HC or HB or HJ) can have CFW installed.

a hacked pandora battery from the old psp will work with the slim. u jus got to hold it in place as it may fall out.

Provided the PSP is "hackable" (i.e. not ta88v3 or 3000 or Go), then yes, Pandora will work with any current or future firmware.

No. Any tool to install CFW needs kernel mode access, and HBL is user mode only.

The only way to install CFW on your PSP now is via a Pandora battery and MMS. Time to ask your friend with CFW'd PSP for a favour. As said above, a Phat battery WILL work in the slim, but there are some precautions you should take I think. Google for it, should give you info.

EDIT: Actually, the only precaution is to hold it in place. I was thinking of Slim pandora in a Phat PSP (or using a Phat PSP to make a slim battery Pandora, which also works)

Did anybody actually read the OP? He said it's a silver PSP. Yes, it's hackable. Get a pandora.

Or just use Chickhen

if not hold the battery in place a phat pandora battery will work slims are backwards compatible.

You seriously think that the PSP's colour denotes motherboard? Riiiiiiigghhhhhhhhhhhtt..................

Another great piece of advice from Arwing789.

ChickHEN on 6.30? How exactly do you advise he does that?

I really appreciate the advice everyone. I knew I could get good answers from this forum.

Just waiting for my friend to come over with his hacked PSP to test this thing out.

STFU already. Chances are, it's not a Daxter PSP with a changed mobo. If it's a Daxter silver PSP, it's hackable. There aren't any other silver PSPs! The only silver PSP 2001 is the DAXTER LIMITED EDITION ONE! WHICH IS HACKABLE!!
