ROM Hack RecorDS

An idea struck me the other day.
Would anyone be able to create a homebrew program where you would run your ROM and press a combination of buttons and it would start recording on-screen. When you press these buttons again, it stops recording. It would save a video file to your MicroSD card. If it didn't save AVI then it could save it as something that can be converted to a friendly format. This program would be perfect to show shortcuts, glitches, speedruns and the like.

And it could be called RecorDS

Seems like a pretty complicated idea as it would require some rom patching and somehow being able to access the SD card while in game, or saving temporarily in SRAM and then transferring on next boot.

Problem with this would be that it would require quite a bit of processing power to record and save media at the same time. This wouldn't be feasible on the DS.

How about a program that has it's own interface and records sound only through the DS's built in mic?

Damn..even without sound it still probably wouldn't be powerful enough

What would be the use for the sound only one?

most games will use all of the ds's power whilst you are playing them, running anything on top of that (just getting the the arm to multitask is pretty hard) would make games unplayable

Perhaps for important meetings or lectures, although it'll make you look ridiculously silly, this way you'll already have your sound converted to MP3 format on the fly.
