Hacking Received new console on 2.1 :D

CFW can boot 2.1 provided you force that CFW to to use a 2.x FIRM when they do a firm launch. Old versions of Luma/Cakes can boot a FIRM you give it I believe. It's been a while since I did this but booting 2.1 with CFW is possible. You just can't boot a 2.1 emunand with CFW.

Though the firm protection code of newer CFW like Luma may not work on 2.x firm. I wouldn't recommend doing a system update from official means like game/system settings as that may break your A9HL install if you decided to install A9HL while still on 2.1.

But yeah generally it's better to just update to 9.2 and then install it.

Well, yes? CTRNAND transfer deletes the need for a previous 9.2 backup. So, there's not problem at all on installing A9LH being on 2.1, when you were saying it could be bad.

In light of it existing; probably fine. There is still apparently some kinks in CTRtransfer method overall but AFAIK it should function for now.

Yeah, since Plailect updated guide it's now less NAND backups (only one on all the guide), and it includes links for CTRNAND 9.2 bins.

Why not update straight to 11.0?

because he can't boot with a9lh on 2.1 . He needs to go to 9.2 then 11.0

Even though Luma nightlies can boot 2.1 CFW, I advise against updating from it and instead just follow the guide to do a 9.2.0 CTRTransfer.

DO NOT install A9LH directly.
People are saying "oh you can just install it straight" and YES, you can. But currently no CFW can boot your NATIVELY 2.1 system. Unless someone has a CTRtransfer image of a newer CFW compatible firmware which then you can update just as is. I do not know but make sure some other things first.

There is some other good suggestions but if your browser does not work then it might be harder anyway.

The CTRnand transfer is a neat process that adpats an already existing standard NAND to your system using your unique very important files (like the seed, and whatelse).

This makes the guide faster because you don't need a lot of different NAND backups anymore.

You don't need to worry about it. Simply follow the instructions step by step and it should work alright. I've done the new guide 2 times already. And I've read it has less risk than the usual downgrades and backup restoring.

Everything has a risk.

If one doesn't want to suffer a brick, the only 100% way of not having risks is not messing around with your console.

And that's still only 99%, since it could brick even because of official updates.

Okay sorry, i can see why she is probably confused. For some reason the guide assumes your are not on version 2.1. No where in the guide does it say "If your system is already on 2.1 go Here (Insert link) So i guess it was why she asked in the first place. Is still rare for anyone to have a 2.1 console, even though we all know is required to get the otp to install a9lh, the guide seem to prioritize being on 9.2 and should be made clear what to do if you happen to already have 2.1 console.

Anyway, If that is why she asked, i can see why, is just how i see it. Even previously having done the process and then having a 2.1 system brand new, i probably would upgrade to 9.2 to do it cause i don't see any leading to people who have it but a upgrade and downgrade chart for 9.2
