Hacking Receive emails for Gateway updates

This is REALLY old, but I recently stumbled across this myself.
You can get email notifications on new Gateway updates through RSS on a site called ifttt.

First sign up for an account on ifttt.com

Then add this recipe: https://ifttt.com/recipes/230117-if-theres-a-gateway-3ds-update-email-me

You should get email updates of new Gateway updates from now on.

This works best with the "Checker Plus for Gmail" extension on chrome. You'll get popup notifications for new emails instantly, and can read emails without going to gmail itself.

If you get spam mail on your gmail, simply unsubscribe from specific senders by clicking the unsubscribe button on the bottom of emails you don't care about.


EDIT: An alternative site is changemon.com where you can use the RSS feed link from Gateway's site which is (Gateway's URL/feed) Replace Gateway's URL with their URL. Apparently we're not allowed to link to Gateway's site.

I'm already using an IFTTT recipe that sends me an iOS notification when Gateway updates and another for when Nintendo drops FW updates.

You can't link to Gateway by the way. You've been here long enough, and should know better haha!

I honestly didn't know that we can't link to Gateway, I thought it was just "No linking to other forums" and that's it. You've been here WAY longer than I Have
But thanks for being nice about it, people love to crap on others for stuff like this!

Another alternative is https://www.changedetection.com - that's what I'm currently using to monitor the UK Club Nintendo page (I want that "Goodbye Coin" whenever they release it!)

For Gateway updates

If new feed item from http://www.gateway-3ds.com/feed/, then send a notification

For 3DS/WiiU Firmware updates

If new feed item from http://yls8.mtheall.com/ninupdates/feed.php, then send a notification
