So its coming out in march. Ubisoft has said that it will contain all of the content the wii version has. Thoughts?

I think I remember seeing a screenshot of this, and I thought it looked better than on the Wii.
The characters seem really small on the Wii. The 3DS version is a lot bigger.

Well the Wii version's pretty good...but I wouldn't bother buying it, I tried it and it's very colourful and fun for an hour or so, but it just can't compete with Mario games when it comes to getting my attention.

*cross's finger for wi-fi* doubt it will happen through.
That would be great, but we'll probably end up with crappy local-only multiplayer. :(

TBH for a game like this, local multiplayer is so much better.

The multiplayer is pretty mediocre from what I played though. Alone, the game is a challenging and well made (not to mention beautiful) 2D platformer. With multiple people it becomes incredibly easy to break aspects of the game to get a better score. Say for example you want to grab a rare item, but it's a difficult jump. Alone, you'd have to be good at the game to pull off a good jump. In multiplayer, you can just keep one guy sitting in a safe spot and then just jump at it time after time until your shot in the dark hits. There's also things like the ability to stack players that makes difficult, high jumps a cakewalk. If it's a time based thing (like the level is moving and you have to take a longer path to get an item), normally you'd have to be quick and agile to get the item and survive. Now you can just have the rest of your party go over while your friend sacrifices himself once the coin gets added (which is not hard to stall for).

It's also pretty easy to lose track of your character, even with everyone playing different characters with different color schemes. I played it on an average size TV and had issues with 4 players, I can't even imagine it on a small 3DS screen.

That being said, I don't really see the relevance of a 3D effect on a game that prides itself on fantastic 2D artwork. I'll probably get the Vita version for the better graphics.

The 3DS screen is perfectly sized, at the position you are looking at it from, it is as big (or bigger) than a 47" TV (based on where people watch them from)

Source please.
3.53in = 9cm.
47in = 120cm. (15.555x)

At 30cm/12in for 3.53in the 47in would have to be veiwed at 4.66m/15.2ft.

Source: my brain, my trusty caluclator and a converter for all those imperial measurements. :P

There's a relevance of a 3D effect: It looks sweet :P

I can see a real and useful purpose to the 3D effect. One minor gripe i have with Origins is that the characters can sometimes blend in too well with the background and cause issues with keeping up with the sprite action. Improved depth would help distinguish the multiple layers from the characters and keep it from interfering. It won't enhance the core gameplay to the extent that Mario 3D Land will, but it will help that at least. Visuals will pop even more than they did, the game usually has upwards of 7 or more layers of backgrounds, foregrounds, and sprites going on. That's likely to look pretty sharp in 3D. I hope they retain 60fps in or out of 3D, the game is amazingly smooth on current systems.

its confirmed, that the vita version will not have any multiplayer capabilities, so i doubt, that the 3ds version will feature it! the vita version will have a (for me)crappy mode, in which you can download ghosts of other players and try to race them in specific levels. so my bets go to a similar style on the 3ds.

Wow, that sucks.. That's kind of bad for a handheld that's just starting out, I think.

Actually, ubisoft confirmed that the 3ds version will have all of the content of the wii version, so it looks like thats only gonna be a Vita problem. Not a smart decision on the vita version developers part.
