Hello,

how long can someone be in the fear of state before dying?

I have wondered, if it is possible to create a firmware for the next raspberry Pi that allows for a closed gaming plattform like the playstations. And if it were possible, what could such a console look like. With cooling the Pi could be overclocked, and the next version 5 will surely be more powerful then the current one.

May be switch like graphics would be possible?

Have you consulted a doctor? Some basic anxiety medication could go a long way.

If you mean a "closed platform" in terms of commercially locked down to official releases and anti-piracy, then basing it on generic hardware with no unique security features built in would not be a good start. Let alone that whoever was running this hypothetical platform would not be the ones selling the hardware, which is a universal feature of console business models.

They don't work on me. My doctor said I have terminal scares.

Maybe they can get the PCB slightly modded?

But the hardware is often sold at a loss anyway.

No they didn't.
If the basic stuff doesn't work then you get referred to a specialist for the, uh, more specialised stuff.

Pi works great as an open software platform but/therefore is fundementally the wrong choice for a closed platform.

My doctor said I should get used to things getting worse. Civilisation is in decline and that cant get cured by medzin.

I see. What would be the cheapest way to sell a console, what would it look like?

Doping people up to enable them to cope with the otherwise unbearable nature of modern society has been a fundamental of modern medicine for some time now, so I'm still not convinced you're telling the truth.

Apparently the cheapest way is to buy up a defunct but once-beloved gaming brand, and get some designers-for-hire to cobble together something that looks like a weird modern take on the old familiar thing.

This is what my experience is like:

Yes, but thats just the branding. What about the hardware? How can it be produced most cheaply and would it be able to put out?

Not watching that right now tbh. If your doc won't help, see another one.

Generic nvidia or ati or one of the android gpus, generic arm or intel cpu, Switch/Android-ish performance depending on your chosen price point. The specs are less of an issue than getting devs/publishers on board to make games people will want to play.

Watch it at another time. Then you will understand my unfortunate situation.

I'm suprised. Switch is good graphic. It's better than 360. How can one convince devs to develope for such a plattform?

If you're not already one of the big three, then you're gonna struggle to make even a humble dent in the market. Hence buying up another known brand, and/or throwing in other unique novelties (the Playdate may be niche af but it seems to be doing well in that niche)

I like the screen.

Maybe if one uses charm and personality to convince others. The big three, they are big cold monolithic entities.

That guy is a machine.

I think a cheap relatable console from people that aren't evil would be nice. Maybe I'll check the playdate.
It's a real shame they ended up having to double the price before release, at the original price I'd have been tempted for the fun/novelty factor, but at the new price I'd have to have been more invested in the idea than I am. Like I said tho it seems to be succeeding, and I wish it well.
