GPS Application for the DS

A GPS application for the Nintendo DS. It's still in a very early stage.

This seems to be just a demo release to show that they have the interface working, but it doesn't currently have actual GPS integration.

A GPS receiver can be connected to Natrium's DSerial IO device, though, so maybe they plan to use that eventually? Or maybe it's just a proof of concept.

How does this work?
Where and how do you attach a GPS device?
Is it possible to find out where you are via the Wifi?

Either way, seems cool

I saw the antena.
It might be via the satellite, just as the traditional GPS system,i think

anyway,it is awesome~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hiker: Hello? I'm lost and need some help (is talking on cell phone)
Person: Do you know about where you are?
Hiker: Hold on, let me whip out my DS!

My lord, this app is a nice concept

Now if I'm lost or kidnapped I can find my way homebrew. Macgyver never had it so good.
If he had a DS all his episodes would be 5 mins long or less. And I'd break his face if he took it apart to make a crappy fire. Would be nice if there was a way to track the GPS from a website but thats probably alot to ask of an early homebrew application. And panzer is right about the mapping. Would you have to know where you are going and put a map on ahead of time?

I once found my way around long island using abunch of pictures from mapquest that I stored on my DS and used some homebrew for displaying/zooming high res maps. It worked great . but it was no GPS!

Ps. Doesn't GPS require a subscription of some sort? I've never owned one.

GPS doesn't require any subscriptions ) you just need a GPS receiver, it will receive signal from several satellites and then calculate your position )
