Now that WAS my mistake. It was a grammar error. Albeit one linked to the proper spelling of the word. The word "spellings" is a correct way to spell that word (under certain and special circumstances), but not when placed in that part of the sentence. So it is both a spelling mistake AND a grammar mistake.

And you don't have a say in the matter since you criticized someone on the way they write with spelling and grammar errors of your own. It's simply the pot calling the kettle black. Not really. The rule of grammar states how that is not the proper way of using a verb with a plural noun, so it's a grammatical error, not a spelling error.
