I have had the R4S for a bit now and the function works fine, the thing is that the build quality it is terrible!
Now that i have been using it for awhile it falls apart everytime i plug it in! I may buy an sx pro now.

I do not suggest purchasing an R4S if you want ur money's worth.

Edit:So i found out my issue, i took it apart and fixed some bend things that where moving the casing apart, canlled my SX PRO delivery.

people buy it for the insides and the functions. At least that's what I would care about.
when it exposes shitty soldering inside the R4S board and can easy break I think it's not worth it.
Any day now it could fall apart break some shitty wire soldering and then woops broken switch because of a short! Or could just explode because of that trashy battery.

Why do you think that it can easily break?
the red wire, it has really trashy soldering. The one that connects to a wire and if both wires dont connect to the batter and board i don't know what will happen probably explosion of the battery so i am buying a sx pro rn. (just ordered)

It looks fine on the GBAtemp review. But I already got a good dongle now days :)

why pro when all you need is gear?
I use sx os and pro looks better and comes with another license i can license a friends switch etc.

It's a community built one. It's in the trading area here on GBAtemp.

you buy a pro, you will have to give the dongle to your friend

the license is attached to the dongle, you won't be able to use only the dongle on your current switch

Try getting ns atmosphere or rcmloader
They both are great
The build quality of ns atmosphere is great.

Get one of those if you don't want the hassle to build one.

I got an R4S and IMHO the built quality is better than the rest of the competition, at least for now. The jig is amazing BTW.
I have the R4S, yes the jig is great but the build quality (at least mine) is shit soldering is trashy size isn't great. And for the jig i have to hold the jig down to boot rcm.

In my experience from NS-Atmosphere and RCMLoader by xkit. NS-Atmosphere is better since RCMLoader cannot hold a charge for more than 20mins even if the thing is sitting idly. NS-Atmosphere on the other hand has a built in battery that will not deplete unless used. I really love how easy it is to change payload using RCMLoader but the charge thing killed it for me.

Tell me, does r4s has built-in battery or super caps? If it's the latter, can it hold charge for a few days?

It's a built-in battery dongle ~120mAh or so. It won't need to recharge at all as it will be charged itself after triggering payload. Plugin R4S first then trigger the RCM you will good to go.

Nice, this will be my next buy then. Can't believe I bought 6 pcs of RCMLoaders, good thing it's still being bought from me even with its flaw.

I own the R4s and can say the opposite. I took it apart day one and it was pretty solid. Been using over a few months with no problems. Would recommend the dongle to anyone for the build quality and ease of use. Drag and drop updating is nice and I can say it's far better than another cheap dongle I own. I will be buying another R4s when I need another dongle for sure.
