just my .02 from a new user, I just purchased an R4i SDHC from a local store, purchased it, and after a little playing aorund, I have a very nicely working card, needed it to replace my old Games & Music, since it won't work in the DSi. anyway, I was basicly paid to get it (long story). was thinking of getting an Acekard (and still may).
as I only used my G&M for music, and movies and homebrew (working at Gamestop I was not into the ROM playing lol).
Anyway, I had the choice of this ot the TT, got this because I knew of the R4 rep (granted, I didn't know the R4 was all now clones lol) well suffice it to say so far I am happy with how it works. anyway, what are the top cards for the DSi right now?

There is the DSTTi, Acekard 2i, EZ Flash Vi, Supercard DSONEi and they're working on a DSi version of the M3 called M3i Zero.

But I think that the Acekard 2i would be the best bet, since it's cheap and the firmware is nice (if you use AKAIO) and frequently updated.

R4I-SDHC ,because the board's design was changed. maybe some cards can not working.its not seller wrong in Europe.

Hey all, just registered here in the hopes someone may be able to help out.

I just received my R4i (not the red box version) from Memorybits for my UK DSi. I did as instructed and put the software on the card. I can get to the menu screen on the R4i (Game/Multimedia/etc) but freezes up on "Loading..." whenever I try to play any rom. After doing some research I should have avoided R4i like the plague but hindsight is a wonderful thing. So what are my options here guys? The software is correct (as i get to the r4 menu) but obviously this thing wont play any roms. So is my only option to return it and ask for one in a red box (will this even work on a uk dsi either??)

This happened to my ak2i. All you need to do is download the latest loaders.

I got it and ROMS are runnig without problems. DSi XL.

Download R4i 1.20b Firmware

Extract and copy folder structure to the root of your sd card. You should see a game icon upon boot of your DS, mine is Star Wars. Load and there you go.

I think that the DSTTi doesn't belong in that list, seeing as the official developers abandoned it. Right now, the DSTT is in the same boat as the all of the R4s: a sinking one.

There's the 1:1 clone at ShopTemp which runs Wood. The only R4 which is the 1:1 clone, as it's the only one which of those currently shipping that can run Wood. All R4i's and all R4 SDHC's should be avoided like the plauge as they aren't able to run Wood R4.

If you want a flashcart which will run on the DSi/ DSi XL or want to use MicroSDHC cards, then best value cart is the Acekard 2i.

Buy an Acekard 2i its better
Dont buy any R4 that has SDHC Support, Dsi support or a strange name like "R4iTTDSUPGRADE"

I have the R4i-SDHC in the red box. I tried downloading firmware from varios sites but the same thing happens. When i select the R4 icon on the bottom screen of DSi it would appear to be loading but then the top screen displays what looks like the outline of a sd card with a ? and the word menu inside. I have e-mailed DealExtreme but still awaiting a reply.

Have you check any website address on the box? If any,you can head on to the site and download the latest firmware from there.After you done downloading the firmware,you have to extract all the contents onto the ROOT of your microSD (format first and back up anything important on your microSD). If there is no site address on the box, you can try at http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ .But make sure what cart you have EXACTLY the same as the firmware you'll download.Otherwise it won't work. And buying R4 SHITTY CLONE cart is the biggest mistake you had done. You should buy AK2i ($15) or DSTwo ($35) at ShopTemp.

He bought a fake one but original R4's were very good
