http://3dbrew.org/wiki/Savegames is your best place to check. If it's not there, chances are likely no considering the "dedicated" 3DS guys will usually post findings there (or less likely but possible it would be the news section here)

No changelog, but this version appears to have fixed the crashing for me. So, perhaps the change is just stability related.

Such resurrection...

You cannot back those games up since they are Card2 games. The saves are within the ROM itself.

Also worth noting. There are very very very few games which are like that. But yea.

Is your 3DS by chance 9.2 or lower firmware? If it is, then boy are you in luck!

Yeah, it'll work. But the save might not be compatible with your copy as multiple users have reported this already. 50/50 chance of the exploit working on your cartridge. If it doesn't work, delete the save, boot up the game and play for a little bit and then save. You can send your save to Gateway via email.
