Hello,

I've recently acquired a R4i 3DS from www.r4ids.cn. I downloaded the newest WOOD v1.61 kernel and placed it in my SD card. The problem I have is, the 3DS says an error has occured and that I need to reboot.

Is there a way to fix this issue?

you need the right FIRMWARE
wood is just the kernel for the card
so you need a system that the card works on so you can run the update file

newers card have
a FW for card (FLASHED)
and the
kernel(files on the sd card)

make sure you get the right file for your card you you will kill the card

WOOD is NOT the FLASHED FW, it the kernel (just he files on the SD card)

you NEED to RUN the FW update for your card

you need to update the FW(the FLASHED FW of the card) so you can be used on the newest eds FW

I've already updated the card to v1.61 and I'm still getting blocked.
"Do I really have to run the update file? I can just stick it on the MicroSD and be done, right? - You do need to RUN the file. In most cases you need to run the update on the flash cart itself (it updates the firmware of the actual, physical cart), so if your DSi/3DS won't run the cart, then you can't update it on that DSi/3DS.
