It would seem to me as though they have actually integrated BigBoss's EZ5 Expansion loader: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=46742&st=0
Can anyone confirm this?

It's not integrated with BigBoss's app, but it really does work great with EZ the Expansion pack.

So, do you still need that app or does the new firmware allow you to use the EZ expansion pack?
LOL, there's no point in intergrating the application. It won't allow for easy updating and the application is designed to work on ANY slot 1 cart, so it'd kinda defeat that purpose. In short: YES YOU NEED IT.

BTW, Cory's making an awesome GUI for the flasher.

There's really not much more they can do to the R4. They met the wishes of most and allowed more customization to the GUI. The game browser is leaning more towards a file browser now that you can delete from it. I like the whole save backup thing as well. Now I can let my sister borrow my DS and not have to worry about her fucking up my saves or going through the process of backing up all my saves to PC. The only thing I can see them adding is fixing any of the download play or speed issues. None of these matter to me so anything more they do to it is just icing on the cake

None of these updates really interest me very much. I don't see them being used very often, except for maybe the ability to delete files.

However, what is VERY interesting to me is the fact that my R4 software is receiving updates quite frequently. That makes me very happy.

Well, this update does fix a save issue with a game.......970.

The TOEIC game. Still not gonna affect me much.

However, Katalyst makes a good point about little brothers and sisters and backing up save files. I can see myself doing that. I already had my 3 year old little brother kill my NSMB save back before I had an R4.

And if we're talking about wishes, I'd love to see somebody come up with a way of booting GBA games loaded onto a slot 1 device. I'd think that there'd be quite a few people out there like me who only have a slot 1 solution who are looking to still play GBA games. This wouldn't be an R4 development, sure, but it'd still be nice.

People, STOP IT! It's NOT possible. Slot 2 is much faster, and GBA carts/flashcarts do have ram, while DS ones don't. A GBA game is always fully loaded in the memory while a DS one loads partially. DS has only 4MB of RAM while there are GBA games up to 32MB. Now tell me about writing an "emulator". I'm tired of all this noobish bullshit all over the forum.

Thanks for your patient explanation.

Would somebody care to elaborate on what -EX- just said? I'm no expert on these things, but my micro SD card has a gig of memory. Couldn't 32 meg of that be alloted for loading GBA games? Is there really no way to trick a DS into using its GBA hardware to run something that's on a slot 1 flashcard? What's more, there are GBA emulators written for a variety of platforms. At the very least, can't one of those be ported over to NDS? Or is it really, as -EX- said, "NOT possible"?

Theres one big problem with that though, theres a difference between ram and memory, so unless they realest a slot 1 flash card with ram there will always be a need for slot 2 flash cards, but ther is one possible alternative, that is if a expansion pack cuould be used as ram for the web browser then so could it be used for GBA games saved on the slot-1, this would still require you buying a slot 2 but a chaper £15 expansion pack instead of a £60 slot-2 flash card

EZ 3-in-1 expansion pack is already usable with any slot-1 card. And it costs around 20 bucks.

I do like the new GBA function. The only complaint I have is its a shame when it boots up the supercard it still runs the GBA roms on the top screen, not the bottom screen like whats selected.

Use Supercard's GBA mode. You can run SC in GBA mode either with no PassMe device inserted, or you can use GBA Switch homebrew.
