Just curious to how people use their R4 as I am getting mine soon...

1. How long have you had your R4 and how many do you own? Where did you buy it off of?
I got mine in June from DealExtreme

2. What kind of memory card do you use?
1Gb Kingston

3. Have there been any problems with your unit?
Nope, and it even went through a full cycle in the washing machine and dryer!

4. How do you have your folders organized?
No Folders, all roms in the root

5. Do you use your R4 mainly for games or Media/Homebrew?
games exclusively

6. Do you have any accessories for your DSL?
no

7. How did you find out about flash carts?
I forget, but I've been using them since the GBA

8. Favorite games of the moment?
Advance wars, WOW2, Picross, new SMB

I got it for just more than one week, from a store in Auckland.

I got a Sandisk 2G

3. Have there been any problems with your unit?

Not at all.

4. How do you have your folders organized?

I put games in different folders like "ACT" "RPG" "FC" "MD" bla bla bla.

5. Do you use your R4 mainly for games or Media/Homebrew?

Games only, as 2G is a bit small for media files I think. and the screen and speakers is not ideal for media in my opinion.

6. Do you have any accessories for your DSL?

Ordered a case and protector and 3 in 1 from dealxtreme, waiting for it now.

7. How did you find out about flash carts?

My friends told me.

8. Favorite games of the moment?

Contra 4!! I am sure there are more good games, I have got my 2G card fully occupied already, just haven't got time to dig into other games yet.

- About 6 months I think, got it from gameyeahh, but I don't recommend them, at first I chose airmail because it's cheap, after the payment was already made they send me a email telling me that I'll have to pay for the most expensive shipping because they don't send via airmail to brasil anymore.... the UPS shipping was 30 bucks more... and to make things worse the god damn parcel got taxed at customs....

- kingston 1GB japan made.

3. Have there been any problems with your unit?

- the spring broke... after about 1 week of use, somehow I was able to get it fixed, I have no idea of what I did, but it's working to this day.

4. How do you have your folders organized?

- I just put all roms in the root of the card.

5. Do you use your R4 mainly for games or Media/Homebrew?

- mainly games, have some homebrew in there, but those are games too so... and the ones which are not games per se are emulators to play games so... yeah I use it for games period.

-nope.

7. How did you find out about flash carts?

- I never had a GBA but I already knew about the flashcarts for it (my friend had one), so the first thing I did, after doing some research, when I got my DS (over 2 years ago) was to get a supercard CF, luckily for me the supercard guys found a way to run DS games on it, so I have been using that till I got my R4 6 months ago.

- now the supercard is used for HB apps and pr0n.

8. Favorite games of the moment?

- phantom hourglass, finally started playing it, was waiting for my vacations so I could play it properly, and man what a game.

- FF revenant wings

- AW : DoR

- Phoenix wright 3, almost finishing it I think, great game

- powder, it's HB and I love it

, before starting to play Zelda PH, I was spending more time in this than in any commercial games.

Ive got a Games, Music and Homebrew folder (I also had Ebook and Music but nothing in it)

Games and Homebrew (Sd card is too small for other stuff)

screen protectors from Hori (horo hora whatever)

I had it for over a year now Bought mine off Kicktrading in january 2007 (now Kickgaming). But later i found it cheaper on dealx and got a second one for my little sister from there. Unfortunetly they dont got any in stock on valuerate x.x

2. What kind of memory card do you use?
At first i used a cheap ridata i got from a factory store by my house for like 10 bucks (pretty cheap remembering i bought it a year ago) but its too slow. I now use a 2gig Kingston Japan

Nope both units no problems at all =P

4. How do you have your folders organized?
I have a couple homebrew so all my folders are hidden.

5. Do you use your R4 mainly for games or Media/Homebrew?
About 1gig is set aside to music i listen to on the go.
Homebrew i have: -dsorganize, beup (msn for ds), english dictionary, and TI83 graphing calc emulator.

6. Do you have any accessories for your DSL?
Only a white nintnedo case for it. Do screen protectors count? XD

7. How did you find out about flash carts?
I found out from a friend who got a supercard lite. I was about to buy a m3 lite but then the R4 came out so i got that instead, has kept me happy ever since.

8. Favorite games of the moment?
Probably mario kart because 8 player human wifi everyday during lunch break is pretty fun and intense XD

I use a games folder for NDS games, movies folder for movies, music folder for music... you get the idea.

Mainly NDS games, but I occasionally use DSorganize and CBDS.

A large grip thingy for my big hands.

Spring broke on the first day, can't get the spring out so I rely on tape to hold the card down. also use the paper trick because it has problems reading the R4 contacts

4. How do you have your folders organized?
All games/saves stay in the root. I've only made one extra folder and that was for SNES.

Had mine for about 6 or 7 months, only one, and I got it from a store at an Asian mall.

Spring broke, contacts worn out. So I got a Cyclo, although I've had good rimes with the R4.

18k gold lated stylus, Mad Catz (Katz?) Clear Display Case, Optimus Prime skin inside only, the thingy that comes with the R4 and a Squad Three chain accessory (Bleach).

Friends had them, I wanted them.

Nothing as of yet other than not booting once in a while.

1 folder for media everything else is tossed into the root.

Mainly games but i do watch a lot of vids over and over again...

I have obtained thousands of games and while searching sites I have found links.

Orcs and Elves. Im really into those types of game. Im on abandonia more than any other site.

I will never forgive Sony Corp for shutting them done. They sued Lik Sang for buying PSPs!??! What company sues someone for buying their own product? This is why I hope Sony dies a cruel, painful, bloody, unfair, dreaded, sick, disgusting, gruesome, horrific bankruptcy and death, at least in the gaming and music industry, their TVs fine. So far, the PS3 is killing them fast enough.

And just so I stay on topic, I will answer the #7 question that I replied on:

I learned about flash carts by accident a long time ago when I searched for a way to put music on my GBA and the search on Google took me to Jandaman.com's flash cart selling site. This was in the early days of GBA flash carts with carts being about $80 for like 512megabytes. Insane. I had no intentions of pirating any games though.

I had been looking for a way to play GBA ROMs on my GBA. This was a few years ago. I forgot about it and saw that my cousin had a DS-Xtreme. I almost bought one but it was too costly so I got an R4DS.

DS games? 3 Tony Hawk's and Transformers: Decepticons, I guess. I haven't played my DS for awhile, now that I have my PSP and all 3 PS2 GTAs.

Recently when i used to play Legend of Zelda, Bleach blades of fate, the DS freezes. When i turn on the DS also the DS freezes. Dont know why. But It hasnt crashed for a while now.
