Hi everyone! I'm new to GBAtemp and I wish to know what are the best firmware (e.g. WoodR4, YSMenu...) for R4 Upgrade Revolution.

I dont know how to tell if my r4 is a clone or is it original.

I'm trying to play Lufia but it doesnt work on my R4. My fried installed a Wood R4 on my flashcard but it doesnt save the game.

Any help from you guys would be great.

Thanks in advance.

A N Y R4 that has the following terms:
i, SDHC, III, Ultra, Upgrade, Gold, Red, Green, WiFi, Pro, King, Renovation, Hyper
including others not mentioned, is 100% FAKE.

The only original card is:
R4

Revolution for DS
(NDSL/NDS)

Wood will not work on clones aside from R4iGold from r4idsn.
On the few carts that DO run it, they cannot save as you've seen
WAIO (Wood-All-In-One) might work, but it's been removed by Taiju Yamada (Xenon++) and not updated anymore.

Thanks for the info.

But is there a second firmware for this?
Or is there a way to play the Lufia and Pokemon black and White.

  • NinStar @ NinStar:
in that case, there is no such thing as homebrew launcher for aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
you have to launch your homebrews directly from the wii u menu
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
there is a plugin that display them on the wii u menu, pretty sure it is enabled by default
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    so like it doesnt exist
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:

I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    it is L+dpad down+ select
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
but homebrew is appearing in the home menu btw
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
    yes, now I remember it
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
then it is working, I also don't like that they did this but it is the only option you have if you are using aroma
