Hi,

I am currently the owner of a rather old R4 gold card. It is the version without the RTS logo on the cart.

Recently, I update my 3ds to V7.0 without realising that it would block my R4 card. I tried to patch my card using the R4 card through my girlfriend's old DS lite. I was not able to do it as the i always fail the card check stage.

Then I found out that I could update the card via wifi and I managed to do so. Afterwhich, it still didn't work and I found out that I might need to cut the signal line. I did it but I still did not manage to get it to work. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Xzi- I am pretty sure he is referring to his r4i gold ds flashcart NOT a 3ds one considering he mentioned cutting the signal line.

pikmin23- if you already cut the signal line, make sure you reformat your sd card and download the NEWEST wood kernel which is 1.64.

backup your data from the sd card BEFORE you reformat

After you try that it should work provided you correctly cut the signal line

Hate to say it, but you're SOL. Unless you had a backup of your NAND and you know how to solder. Both of which I doubt in this case.

You should read into threads a little more before immediately assuming it has to do with a bricked 3DS. He has an older R4i Gold (DS Flashcard), and he accidentally updated to 7.0 without updating the card first. He wants to know what the best method of updating his card is, in order to get it working again. I can't answer this, since I don't own this specific cartridge.

Don't take this as an offensive remark, it's not meant that way. ;)

Oh, I thought he was talking about using a 3DS flash cart on official 7.1 firmware, not that he was bricked.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150

Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
