Hardware R4 dual core 2014 not working :/

So i've got a 2ds 7.1.0 - 15U , and a R4 sdhc dual core 2014 , the company i bought from said it was fully updated to the latest version compatible with that.

Now that said I have tried everything I can think of to get it to work. 3 different SD cards, formatted with the sdformatter program. Multiple Kernals from different sites, and the official one.


I just get "can't open_dsmenu.dat" I can't get any farther at all. I'm taking the kernal and just loading all the files to the root. The strange thing is in the new version it has R4.dat and not dsmenu.dat anymore.

Is my card broke?
