Oh, I just read the actual thing on the website....

"As some of you might know, the original R4DS team broke up since the middle of 2008, so all updates for the original R4DS have stopped and they never released a version that would support MicroSDHC cards such as 4GB & 8GB. So a smart bunch of guys got together and made the R4DS Pro, these cards are a revamped version of the original R4DS but with the extra features everyone wanted on the originals. The R4DS Pro has MicroSDHC support so you can use cards like 4GB and 8GB, the original R4DS was limited to using MicroSD cards which only go up to 2GB in size. These cards are perfect for those that really loved the R4, but want to start using bigger memory sizes and don’t want to change to another card, there are literally thousands of skins for the R4 and all are compatible with the R4DS Pro, so this is another reason why previous R4 users would just prefer to stick to what they know but get the added features that were missing on the original R4DS.

So far the compatibility with games on these cards are defiantly better than the original, they have about a 95% compatibility rating as compared to the original R4DS which is now hovering at around 85%, Note there are a lot of other MicroSDHC compatible R4 copies on the market such as R4DS SDHC, R4DS Advance and more, why we decided to stock the R4DS Pro over any of these other cards was mainly due to the fact it looks like the firmware is a port from the AceKard team, the options menu has the same formatting as the AceKard and also the plastic housing is exactly the same, which makes us think the factory did a deal with AceKard team to make them a special R4 version of their firmware with the R4DS interface. This is only a good thing as the AceKard compatibility really is the best in this price range and surely will be better than those other R4 SDHC copies which are basically just using a hacked version of the last official R4 firmware and just added MicroSDHC support. There are a couple of functions they did not add which the AceKard has like the built in rom trimmer and some of the options in the start menu, but apart from that your basically using an AceKard 2.1 backend running the R4DS interface people have come to know and love. So if you had and old R4DS and want something with SDHC support and aren’t interested in checking out the other cards on the market such as AceKard or DSTT, or if your just shopping for a new card and heard a lot about the R4DS and would like to try them out, these R4DS Pro we believe are the best solution out of all the other R4DS SDHC cards.

The R4DS Pro is a media enhancer for the Nintendo DS & DS Lite consoles, with these cards you are able to play hundreds of homebrew games and applications, the most popular being the MoonShell media player which allows you to play movies and mp3’s on your DS, that’s right you can now make your DS in to a walking media centre for homebrew games, music movies and more. Those long car trips will no longer seem so bad, with so much entertainment at your finger tips you will be there in no time. The R4DS Pro can even support the latest 16GB MicroSDHC cards, with this amount of space you can have a collection of you favourite TV shows on the DS and still have plenty of room for everything else, they really are what the original R4DS should have become.

Do note with these R4DS Pro they don’t use the same software as the original R4DS, so you won’t be able to use the firmware from the original site, but as we said the old R4 firmware is now quite dated and you just need to visit the official R4DS Pro website to download the latest firmware to use with this card. Like we mentioned above though, every other software or skins that were made for the R4DS will work with these latest R4DS Pro. You will notice that we still sell the original version of the R4 on the site, this is because they are now extremely cheap and for those on a budget and really want an R4 card and are not too worried about MicroSDHC support, they will still be a good option, but if you are wanting MicroSDHC support and care about future updates for the card, you may want to pay that little extra and get the R4DS Pro" - Mod supplier . com
