I am not posting this in the news because I can't confirm the info.
But it looks legit and it makes sense to me

A moderator on a chinese video game discussion forums reported that some R4 clone is working on the 3DS, without any update.
He is using an old kernel apparently.

The R4 clone he's using: http://www.r4i.ndsi.in/

his post:

????R4 ?????? ???????????R4 ???? ?? ??????
my translation: "r4 clone using an old kernel, a kernel no other cart currently uses, games and everything works normally"
Google translation: "R4 cottage version of the old kernel is not used today, we see that R4 game so completely normal function of the boot"

the post can be seen here: http://forum.tgbus.com/viewthread.php?tid=2081548

How exactly does this "make sense"?
Nintendo wouldn't have bothered to block this flash cart, or maybe they just forgot to. So far, the only two flash carts that supposedly work on the 3DS are R4 clones.

As a reminder, it's not recommended to go out and buy this flash cart just because it works on the 3DS. Let's all wait a while and see what the big-name flash cart teams can do.

Basically the point of this post and the other one is:

Nintendo did next to nothing about DS hacking.

Out of curiosity, what game header does this R4 clone use?

Because they couldn't.

There's not much they can check for. Yes DSi games had enhanced security because they included the security features in DSi games. DS games don't have them. Thus if Nintendo blocked flash carts by requiring new security methods and ditching the whitelist, it'd block DS games.

So, that means...

If the next in the 3DS series does not have backwards compatibility (I bet it still will have due to the shape of the 3DS carts and the DS ones), it should have the craziest AP measures eva!!

i think the problem is that the ds format is unsecure
there is no sure way to prevent hacking ds-mode
now 3ds mode is different
they can add more ap to a new format but not to an old

DSmode is totally hacked, Nintendo only can stop flashcart kernel bootup, but flashcart can update everyday or every hour, R4 clone is not famous enough for nintendo to collect their bootup information.

the reason of famous flashcart team not release their newest update is because nintendo is watching what they are doing.

What is this? A "Real R4" clone?

It has only Moonshell _SYSTEM_ _DS_MENU.DAT & _DS_MSHL.NDS

What game icon does it use in the 1.4.1 update file?

Maybe Nintendo didn't know anything about this "R4"..? Even we didn't know...

It'll have the same security as on 3DSmode currently.

I'm gonna go out on a limb, and guess that you're asking whether this cart will support Wood R4, and the answer is a resounding no.

idk If they did that they may just replace the lack of ds compatibility with even tighter security, focus for 3DS games.

They trick us into thinking that flashcarts work, then they get logs of how they work, and FOREVER BLOCK FLASHCARTS.

That's what I think.
