Hacking R4 bundles usb reader

I've had no problems with my blue usb reader that was included with the R4. Even though it may have been responsible for damaging my taiwan kingston microsd. Both my sandisks I've had no problems with it. My neighbour has the 2nd version the black one, it seems a lot better built.

I *think* I have the 2nd gen reader. It looks exactly like the black one w/ the 2 raised diamond bumps. However, mine isn't black... it's a baby blue color.

how exactly do these bundled card reader gets fried? i just got my r4 today and i used the supplied reader with my sandisk card and it worked fine. i just bought two kingston card from ebay and will test them too.

just got a the newer R4 pkg, the black usb reader works fine for me, no problems, formatting, transferring deleting files, using a 512MB KingMax microsd, seems to work excellent only tried a handful of games

Wait, so generally, people shouldn't use the microsd card reader that comes with R4? I hope futureshop or bestbuy or something sells them =x.

Yeah, I got that new black pyramid reader with my M3 simply. Looks cheap on the inside and I'm not risking it so I got my own reader from Best Buy. No problems with that one and I don't need to be paranoid about my card getting fried.
