Quickstep makes pop up ads appear when opening apps

If it truly is in the launcher, then it should be empty.

I recall it being empty when I tried it, so it should be the launcher then

Notifications can be sent by websites if you allow them. Many sites ask for that permission for no reason. This can and will be abused for ads.
Cleaning your devices from garbage requires you to become active and search for the cause(s). We can't do it for you.


There is an easy solution to that problem as well but I'm afraid you won't like it.

I now switched to using lawnchair and sometimes the Microsoft launcher too

I have same problem with Blackview a70, ads are built-in into Quickstep. Real solution is to disable the app using something like Adb App Control. But you won't be able to access recent apps, to access you will have to root device and install magisk module.
I personally have been using RethinkDNS with simple app network block. But recently that shit started bypassing it and showing notifications mimicking other apps. It acts as scary malware, now i setup DNS + firewall. Hopefully it helps

Rooting requires access to the boot.img file from the stock flash file... which means the stock flash file is needed.

Any steps in that direction are potentially dangerous if there is no guaranteed way of flashing the phone back to stock. In the worst case such things end with a bricked phone.

Worth noting: Rooting nowadays almost always requires bootloader unlock (rarely rooting through exploits) and this deletes all user data by design.

If this was my phone I probably would have contacted the manufacturer for obtaining the stock ROM and tried to unlock it afterwards to install Magisk and possibly LineageOS (as GSI, generic system image)

I myself wouldn't care for success or failure and simply go ahead if I had this strange phone. at hand.

This looks awful. I hate online advertising. Well. I hate all advertising.

Sadly, no matter how often you are going to mention this, I doubt anybody can help from distance. I'm hesitant to recommend more radical ways of dealing with this.

Make sure your system and apps are up-to-date as well.

This system is not up-to-date. It can't be since Google sent the last Android 11 patch February 2024 (and I doubt this dubios manufacturer was zealous enough to provide monthly and timely updates).

Not sure if u still need help with this but, there's a QR code scanner app (QR and Barcode scanner on play store) that literally let's you just switch off quickstep to replace it with their system. It isn't malware or anything, and it doesn't give popups. it doesn't take up much space either. yw if this helped, lol

So, most of the time when opening an app a pop up ad appears before it opens and while that happens the notification bar says that quickstep is causing making those ads appear, but I can't delete it cuz its a system app. How do I stop the ads from appearing, then?
