I know that if I buy a Kingston 1GB Micro SD card, I could get a Taiwanese one, but if I get a Toshiba one, is it definitely a C01G Japanese one?
I see one on TradeMe (like eBay) for $18.50NZD (about $14.10USD) including shipping.

Lol. You didn't wait long for a reply. I would have gone for a 2GB, as it's a very high chance of getting Japan because they only make them there now.

I was under the belief that the Toshiba's were all Made In Japan. My 1GB and 2GB are both Made In Japan.

Yeah, I bought it because it was ~$10 cheaper than all the other ones on TradeMe, and it would have bee bought.
Yeah, I wanted a C01G to use as a sort of benchmark card, due to them being the fastest MicroSD card.
Lets hope it is a C01G.

Well, whether it is the fastest or not, it generally is used as a benchmark card in most reviews, so having one won't be a bad thing.

On a side note, anyone know anything about where the 2GB Transcend ones are made? My one works flawlessly, no skipping in the DoS intro, no freezing in PoR.

THere should be a standard for speeds and access times on MicroSD like for pretty much all other memory. I have a REALLy hard time even finding that sort of information for a lot of brands, especially if purchased at a local store.
