ok, i read on the official site that its supposed to support. MKV files, but to my knowledge and
multiple file testing, none of the MKV files i ran on my flashcart works, matter of fact they don't
even show up, what could i do to resolve this?

Sandisk 8gb/ Class-2 Micro SD card

i have tested other formats too, it seems that the only main ones i can run are AVI files, so can anyone help me on this??

Try simply changing your videos file extension from .mkv to .avi

MKV and AVI are not video formats, they are container formats just like ZIP or RAR. What matters is the format of the video and audio files inside the MKV or AVI file. Many MKVs use H.264 which does not work very well due to the CPU power needed to decode it while others use Ogg Theora which I don't think is supported. Since most AVI files use divx/xvid (mpeg4) video and mp3 audio due to limitations in the AVI container format there are fewer problems with them. Since MKV supports more video and audio formats it is no surprise that many of them won't work right.

ok i have done this, but it ends up worse than anything, it mainly looks like i had a corrupted download or something because the audio plays fine but video is really glitchy doing this

so, is there any converting programs to change the mkv files?

you could use SUPER, although all the options would probably be overwelming, just use it to change the video inside the .mkv

I'd say check what kind of video is in the file. If you use VLC for a media player on your computer open the file in it and go to Tools and Select Codec Information. You should see something like:
    Stream 0
    Type: Video
    Codec: something

If the codec says H264 you're out of luck. If you don't use VLC, then I'd suggest getting it anyway. Most media players will have this option, I just prefer VLC overall.

that's the problem, that codec isn't supported, just convert it

Edit: while you're at it, you might as well optimize it, follow one of the video guides

What he said. Pretty much if you have any file that is 'HD' (width is 720 or greater) it is probably either H.264 (AVC) or Ogg Theora which won't work with the iPlayer plugin.

I personally get frustrated when products (handhelds, HTPC, flashcarts, etc...) show their video support in file extensions and not video and audio codecs. Mkv is extremely generic and vague. Just a pet peeve of mine is all.
