Gaming Questions About Rune Factory 2

I'm playing Rune Factory 2 recently and still in the first generation.I have some questions about this game.
1.How to get skills for the spear? I got a skill for the broadsword from Tanya when I went to the blacksmith for the first time, but the broadsword isn't that handy, I prefer the spear at the beginning of the game.
2.What kind of monsters can help you crop and where can I get them?
I think harvesting is one of the most boring work in the Harvest Moon series. If someone could help me crop, it would less stressful.
3.Anybody knows any special websites for the Harvest Moon series? I want to get more information.

I haven't' played rune factory is a while so I'm going off memory. Barrett can teach you beginner skills on Tuesdays. Goblins can water/harvest and they are available immediately.
