I would like to hear people's opinions on which flashcard I should buy for 3DS use and from which site. I had ordered a R4 3DS from www.r4-usa.com/ , but I've heard it's a scam site, which means I basically lost $19.98 on nothing. Is R4 even the best flashcard? I'm sorry for asking so much, but please help me out :)

You mean DS flashcards for 3DS? "R4i Gold 3DS" is a super cheap one that works with the latest firmware. If you're interested in a more expensive one that's able to do more things (Like game emulation), then grab a "Supercard DSTwo".

basically do you want NDS or 3DS roms, if your after 3ds the only cards that will work are gateway MT or one of the cheapo crap clones, but just so you know, they will only work on a 4.x system

if you just want NDS roms, one of the box standard r4 gold card will work, but make sure its one of the newer revisions like this

NDS flashcard are capable of running all the way upto the latest FW released 9.x as long as you dont buy a really onld card that has been blocked,
if you want the best possible NDS flashcard you can get the DSTWO, but it is quite a bit more expensive, but it has more advanced features and is able to emulates snes etc as it has a processor built in that makes it the most powerful card on the market

Yes, DS flashcards for the 3DS lol but I will look into the Supercard DSTwo. May you suggest a site for me or is ShopTemp good enough? Also, does it play 3DS roms?

I was basically looking a flashcard that would play 3DS roms, but if I must have firmware 4.x or below, then never mind. I wasn't able to access the link due to my virus protector, but I will disable it for a bit to check it out.

well there was a link to a seller, or you can look on shoptemp....upto you, but no, as i said only gateway/MT/group of poor clones will play 3ds roms, the DSTWO is for NDS games/homebrew only

You know, you can do game emulation on the R4i Gold 3DS as well. :)

Alright, thank you for the info :) I'm just gonna have to stick with buying 3DS games that I may not like once they're tried, but I'm still going to buy a Supercard DSTwo since my Acekard 2i is pretty much useless now.

I've had a dstwo since launch and it has yet to fail me. This card with many excellent plugins, as well as great game compatibility and media capabilities .what's more, the Supercard DSTwo is the only cart for the DSi/3DS that has never needed a hardware revision to take newer updates,so , if you need those powerful features, dstwo is your choose.

Thank you for your input!

I've got an R4i Dual Core SDHC 2014 which i found in an actual shop in Thailand (where i live) which was awesome coz my gateway blue card was screwed.

Anyways on topic, it works fine but you defs cant go wrong with a SC DSTwo. Is the best DS mode cart on the market

The stickies. They have all the answers and/or places to ask these questions.

General rule for 3DS flashcarts:
- DS ROMs? DSTwo or any 3DS compatible DS mode flashcart.
- 3DS ROMs? A 3DS with firmware on 4.5 or lower. After this requirement has been met, Gateway/MT-Card/the rest.

Without a 3DS with 4.5 or lower you cannot play 3DS ROMs. Nothing will change this at the current time unless a new exploit allowing kernel access emerges. Homebrew can be had with smea's ssspwn, but this hasn't been released yet.

I want to by a Supercard DSTwo, but so many sites look scammish to me and I don't want to risk it again.

well a friend of mine ordered from dsgamerworld.com and said he got his stuff pretty fast (like 6 days or something iirc), but tbh you will struggle to find a super legit looking flashcard site as by nature they aren't the most reputable of places

Got an Ez Flash IV from NDS-card.com in a matter of weeks. Would recommend them easily. Also you can use PayPal for payment, which makes it easy for the customer if you happened to not receive the product.

Not to mention NDS-card.com has been official GBAtemp sponsor for a long time now and they seem to have mostly positive reputation if you google them, so I would imagine changes of getting scammed by them are pretty low. :)
