How is the compatibility?

How is E0S?
Compatibility is near perfect (if not just perfect) for DS games, it's average for GBA games but that will change over time because of the updates; the EOS is sweet, I suggest you look up some videos of it so you can see what it looks and functions like. Overall the DSTWO is a must get. Order one, now!

Oh, fuck, didn't notice that, I seem to have gotten used to this kind of topics, asking whether the DSTWO is worth it or not!

So, to answer your question: the DSONE(i) is beautiful. IMHO it is the best DS(i) flashcart (that doesn't have extra processors) out there. The ROM compatibility is near perfect, and the updates fix everything that needs to be fixed (obviously). The EOS is also really good, but if you - for some reason - have a bad microSD card, it won't work as fast as it should. Still, it works really well, and al features work like a charm

If you need to know anything more, you can take a look at the DSONE(i) FAQ I made

Nope, but they do frequently update both cards though. If not for a full firmware update, they update some files like the ds1patch.dat (which essentially contains all patches and AP fixes).
