I have been in the scene for awhile now, but not once I have seen anyone ever use the infared sensors in their homebrew application. Is this because we haven't figured out infared. or simply because nobody cares about infared. The main thing I would like to see infared to do is to be able to transfer/receive any file. How I can imagine this can be done is maybe modifying a circle pad pro/ old 3ds ambiio reader to have a usb out, so you can transfer files quickly and easily. Not sure about the speed, but it would be sick to just pop your 3ds into a modified circle pad pro and plug it into your computer. Please tell me if I if my idea is super impracical or impossible, I'm ok to any response :)

I had doubts about the circle pad pro too, but an external amiibo reader should maybe work, but I would imagine a much more practical is to use a pc infared sensor

Honestly i couldn't think of any uses for an infrared sensor on something like a 3ds that at least I would use, but if you have a practical use for one, go right ahead.

I kinda wanna control my TV with my 3DS. Unlike my remote. My 3DS I never loose ;)

If it's possible to modify GB/GBC using the 3DS's infra-red next to a GBC's infra-red, that would be interesting. :P
hmm, I don't know much about the gbc, but possible gameyob to gbc pokemon trading:D. Probably not, trade emulation is extermly hard for emulators to emulate, and I doubt the 3ds is fast enough to keep up with the gbc (multiplayer emulation is horribly slow)

I forgot to say I was on about save editing. Whoops.

save editing seems improbable, but you never know. If there is already a way to edit saves via ir, then this can probably happen. If there isn't a way, very little chance that this will happen.

anything is really possible at this point, I mean, we have a fliping ds emulator on 3ds and 100% boot rate cfw
