I only see a problem with your theory. The boot time. Even with just sysnand and no colors, triggering menuhax takes a while (1-3 seconds) after the sysnand menu is fully loaded (1-2 seconds more) and then you have the cfw disabling signature checks (1 sec more). So the lower boot time they could have possibly got that way is from 3 to 6 or 7 seconds to menu. They got fully menu boot in 2 and a half seconds quit, impossible for such a setup. And then they have a custom theme.

I don't think they were trying to fool us with the video.

Probably not no, but the point of his post (I was just clarifying for anyone who might have problems understanding him) was that you can't take or trust anything that comes from that team at face value, or as having any real worth to the community. Personally I think it is highly likely that they actually managed to load a CFW from boot on 10.3, but I also think it means little to nothing to the rest of us. We already knew it was possible using the vulnerabilities discussed at the presentation by smealum, yls8 and the rest at Christmas, and nothing in the video or any statements from the team has given any additional insight into their method. In addition the team has a history of developing closed source software and often not releasing said software to the public.

Im gonna repost a question I asked in another thread and hope for a reply here:

A lot of people are freaking out about downgrading before next week but may I ask, why? I know that the 10.4 update is likely to come out which would be horrible if you softbrick after nintendo release the update but all 3ds users are currently on a firmware that is hackable so why not give devs time to develop sysupdater/memchunkhax2 exploit better? If we wait on 10.3 or less is there not a chance that sometime in the near future we would have better ways to downgrade with a 100% success rate?

People are impatient and worried about the very thing you mentioned. In all honesty I agree. Rather than rush to downgrade now and risk soft bricks or worse (i heard reports of a few system permanently bricked beyond recovery by hardmod) I think people should sit tight and WAIT for once. Right now the two unofficial versions of sysupdater being used for downgrades are both using incomplete and buggy versions of mch2, which is why they take so many tries to successfully launch and occasionally soft brick a system. We should see a more complete version of mch2 and a less buggy version of sysupdater in a few weeks so its safer imo to just wait.

if some devs are definately working memchk2 and a better sysupdater i for one will definately wait....thank you to the community and the devs for all their efforts.

Well not everyone would have experience checking video fully, and as you know there are plenty of guys would just say "GIMMEHAX" on those videos (lol). Yeah just a joke. Their video should be real, and yes it's on a 10.3 SysNAND, with arm9loaderhax. But what's more - it is as useless as the faked video - except the meaning of a proof.

Yes if they are just not that impatient, they can still hold the 10.3. However since there are soft-bricks, and ninty use Recovery to update to latest (So brute the way).
And if they can have a hardmod they can have it downgraded as many times as they want, and with backup it can also fix up normal hard-bricks. Yup.

Impatient: Better get hardmod. Patient: Yes hope @JustPingo could release it one day (orz). It is useless to update the console isn't it?

Isnt it a good guess though that given enough time we would be able to downgrade with no problems? Right now its user error and a buggy app thats causing soft bricks. If we fix the app to give us stable memchunkhax2 wouldnt that mean that the only people who would ever get soft bricks after next week are people who make the mistakes? I think this is likely and its a good estimate because rushing in now could probably cost you a 3ds while waiting wont lose anything
