Homebrew Question Question regarding update 6.2

So I haven't updated to update 6.2 on my Switch. I am still on 6.1 and I am using homebrew by using a jig and I haven't updated because I am waiting so I can use checkpoint for a Smash Ultimate save file when the game comes out.

I bought the game digital. But my question is, am I going to have to update to 6.2 when the game unlocks on December 7th? I heard that 6.2 forces you to update to the current update if you want to use the internet.

Also since I use a jig to get to homebrew. What's the step now to get homebrew on 6.2?

If you want to use the eShop or online play, you will have to update to 6.2.0. The good news is homebrew and CFW are now compatible with 6.2.0. You just need to download the new version of Atmosphere (as of now, 0.8.1).
