Have you unlinked your nands?

That is irrelevant.
I can't boot into emunand, I have removed emunand and still can't boot anything.
Why does emunand9 work or "appear" to work. Is there anyway to make sure the nand backup it made is valid?

No, it's not.
If you didn't unlink your nands (especially if you created your emunand with menuhax installed) you'll get caught in a boot-loop that prevents emunand from booting.

There are numerous other possible reasons why it won't boot (incorrect firmware.bin, etc).

Being my first downgrade when it was released, I waited for a video to show step by step so I won't screw up. Followed it closely and didn't brick.

^This is the video I followed. I don't think it shows the unlinking process, but as long as you have backups of sysNAND and emuNAND, you can relax a bit when unlinking.

Note: If you do have a New 3DS, you will have to do one extra step. The process is also less stable for N3DSs. Be careful >.<

You trimmed out the part about none will boot with emunand uninstalled huh?

Reinand freezes at black screen.
Cakes freezes the hbl.
Decrypt9 freezes the hbl.
Rxtools freezes at a black screen.
If I hold r when launching rxtools it opens the rxtools menu and says "failed to load firmware.bin"
The menu works but freezes if I try to boot Sysnand, emunand, or pasta

It's a shot in the dark, but since decrypt9 works, make a back up of the NAND, than downgrade to a lower FW. Than use sysupdater to install 9.2 again. May or may not work, someone can come along and correct me, I'm not researching it as my downgrade went well. Just an idea.

I stated decrypt9 freezes the hbl O.o
If you meant because emunand9 works then... Sysupdater is waaaayyy less reliable on 9.2 (or at least the memchunkhax 2 version is)

Edit
Maybe it has to do with only downgrading with what comes in the 9.2 UPDATE pack. As stated in another thread said pack was incomplete BC it could safely assume you already had many titles installed to the latest version. These titles are not included and thus do not downgrade.

I'm tired of so many people telling me to format or unlink nnid. I have several games purchased on that and I want to keep it.

I've spent like $150 on the eShop, but it's my Mii Plaza, Street Passes, Activity Logs and Friend Code/List I care about.

And for the record, those who never had to format are lucky. I got nothing but soft bricks following multiple different guides correctly and made sure to check the MD5 hash and all that noise.

I think we can nand backup via hardmod, format, downgrade, then use the nand backup as emunand. Seems an effective way to keep nnid and get reliable downgrade.
