I know that an Action Replay kit is required to download SID files for a hack, but its hard to get one. Is it possible to transfer data to a memory card via one of those USB to xbox controller adapters (the ones that let you use an original xbox controller to play pc games with via USB) and plug a memory card into the controller you're using and edit its contents?

It is quite possible to use a USB adapter and the controller, it is quite possible to use a xbox controller port to USB adapter and a USB drive* and it is quite possible to make your own USB adapter with one those breakaways and a USB extension lead if you can solder four like coloured wires together (it will still work as a breakaway and every other combination of USB and breakaway if you want as well).

*not all will work but if you have a nice collection of different ones (especially older ones) you should be good.

If you prefer instead and know someone with a hacked xbox already they can transfer the files.

I personally use an old USB MP3 player stick for softmodding Xbox's an adapter is very easy to make

Making the USB cable isn't hard at all, even if soldering is the most frustrating thing in the world to you. It is to me.

About six months ago, I found a handful of eBay auctions that still sold premade USB cables at a cheap price.

I grabbed a few of them, AR, cards and exploitable games towards the end of the XBox era. I can load your memory card if you can find the right game to use. Just include memory card and postage for both ways.
