What is this "tethered" thing? The PS4 is not a movable device. It won't be a "persistent" hack. And calling it a CFW is a bit of a stretch, if it does the same thing as a HEN (Homebrew ENabler), imo.

Also, the date isn't set in stone. SpecterDev said it might take longer.

IIRC, tethered means running the exploit everytime the device is turned off. Cootboot means you only run the explot once.

It’s not a literal physical tether. In this case, it means the exploit needs to be reinstalled every time you boot up. It’s not really comparable with a HEN - HEN only gives user mode access. This is a full kernel exploit.

The exploit does survive rest mode however so that does somewhat alleviate the issue.

ACE in userland, and ACE in kernel, are both considered homebrew. Albeit most think of homebrew as unofficial apps the end user can interact with, it's all unofficial code that sony never intended to be ran.

Not to mention some homebrew will need kernel access to utilize certain system resources, meaning that technically the incoming cfw of sorts is in fact a hen. For end user clarification, and the fact that the project will include much more than just enabling homebrew, it would be a lot closer related to lite cfw from the psp days. In my opinion.

Well technically you can think it is like how Henkaku is set up for the vita, that you have to reload the payload/exploit everytime. Different case for Enso you can say that made the vita CFW into permanent.
