ROM Hack Question about sprite editing

How does one extract sprites from an NDS rom for editing and then reinsert them? I'm pretty sure I've found the relevant file in my rom in nitroexplorer, but how do I then open it for editing? What I'm trying to do exactly is edit the player sprite in Scurge: Hive.

Try using DSLazy from the download section here to unpack and repack the nds file. As for editing the sprite, that's still up to you to figure out. As in I've never bothered to try.
