i have had this old dsl for a while now and it seems my top screen stoped lighting up. on my top screen all i see is a realy dark image no bright light like in my bottom screen. anyone kow of a fix. and also when i open it some times it will light up but not all th etime

Looks like the backlight is still working, but the coloured pixels are screwed up...
You will either need to send it back to Nintendo, or you could open it up, it may just be a case of securing the ribbon cable, or you may need a replacement screen.
