I own a DS Phat and upon doing the pictochat method to see what version i'm on, i got a pale yellow screen
but i also heard that this method isn't exactly the end all be all of if this is possible, so if anyone truly knows
if i can do the flashme process to get multiple brightness settings, please let me know, thanks!

Yours is on version 4 firmware, so it is compatible with FlashMe.
I believe only v5 and above support multiple brightness levels.
Edit: Apparently some v4 units support it. The important thing is whether it has the CPU-20 board revision. I heard some v5 units can be CPU-10 as well, so sometimes firmware is not a good indicator.

- The second way involves removing the battery cover and battery. Either side of the contacts for the battery there will be a small hole, in the one on the left there will be a 2 digit number(Pictured here: ), if it is "20" this indicates a CPU-20 board, and you are good to go.

@ChronoCrossfangirl2002 This is the method you should rely on rather than firmware version.
Either way installing FlashMe won't hurt anything, as long as you're careful not to short the wrong pin.
