Hacking PSPGo batteryless and PSP component cable adapter

I'm considering buying a PSPGo instead of the older PSP models because it has native support for the DualShock3 as an external controller and so can easily be "consolized" without any hardware mod.

But i have 2 remaining questions:

1. can the PSPGo run batteryless? (after removing the internal battery, can it be powered directly with the AC adapter?)
2. is there a PSP to PSPGo component cable adapter? (i already own a decent multiconsole component cable with the old PSP plug and i won't like to replace it). If not, can i build one using the female connector from a PSP extension cable + a PSPGo component cable?
