Gaming PSP wont be recognized by PC?

My PSP Slim (3100) will not connect to my PC. It's version is 4.21. My PC says that it installing driver software, but then it says it failed and cannot recognize the device. I can plug in Memory Sticks, USB mouses, and USB Huds and they give no problems. My PC runs off of Windows 7 Ultimate 64x, and it is a HP Pavillion dv5 1017-nr. It has crashed one time, but idk if that is the problem.

Try a different connector cable. A lot of times the cheap ones will give errors like this. I like to use the one that came with my external HD. Seems to work the best.
