Gaming PSP Making a very high tone while charging?

i purchased my psp phat used via ebay since day one, it's sounded a high pitch noise when charging. once the battery is 100% the noise is omitted.

i believe it's the charger for if i wiggle the connection i can make the frequency noise less

My iPod charger does the same thing, but it's so quiet I can only hear it if there are no other sounds and I'm very close to it. It still works fine though so it's probably nothing to worry about. Also I HATE some of those old TVs. Most are not too bad but there are some that produce very loud, high noises (I was in a restaurant once where they had one and I was pretty much covering my ears the entire time). The one I have doesn't though.

Check if it's not just you hearing it with a considerably older person, if that person hears it too, locate the source (charger or the console itself). It's likely a sign of a deteriorating capacitor or transformer - not necessarily a danger to the system (or charger) itself, but it will die eventually, in which case, it can be replaced.
