I recently bought a PSP Go.

The seller replaced the battery, screen and put a new screen protector on it. It also shipped with 6.61 Infinity loaded. All good things I figured.

The system does not do anything when I connect it to a PC and use the USB option. I tried 3 separate computers running Win 10 x64 and a laptop running Windows 7. I have two cables. The USB that came with the stock charger and a second one I purchased that is new/third party. The box for it says charge and transfer.

I tried all of the various USB options, disable charging/autoconnect etc. None made any difference. I saw people mentioning that CFW could be the problem.

I did some serious MacGyvering and was able to get back to 6.20 OFW using the PSP Browser. After this I factory reset/cleared storage. The situation was the same with both cables on multiple computers.

I spent several hours sorting out how to get PSP-FTPD loaded using a local web server and the PSP browser. And now I'm back on 6.20 Pro CFW and can more or less manage with FTP. Transfer speeds are slow : /

I am inclined to believe the USB port is defective except I can charge okay. Is there anything else I can try? My next step is probably to ask the seller if it worked for him. Maybe it was the reason he was parting with it?

not to treat you like an idiot, just making sure that you didn't missed the option, but remember that you need to select the "usb connection" option in the xmb:

if is not that and as you stated you already tried 2 different cables, then I guess is safe to say that the data lines of the usb port are broken.
you can try to clean the usb port with a toothbrush or something similar to see if is only dirt that is getting in the way.

If you have Linux (or a virtual machine running Linux) you can look at the kernel messages when you plug the device in and see if anything is happening.

And if you have a PS3 handy, you can see if attempting Bluetooth pairing does anything.

Have you already installed MediaGo?

Yep, definitely using that option. The port itself looks okay. A little dirty but I don't see any damage on the pins. I can try cleaning it.

I'm down for both of these. Can you give me the command to run and what the output should look like?

I have a PS3. Should I try plugging it in to it? I haven't linked them together before.

I'm no Linux expert, unfortunately. Try typing "dmesg | tail -50" before plugging in the PSP Go, and then type it in again after plugging it in. See if anything changes at all. (You can try posting the output here if you really can't make sense of it.)

What do you have to lose..? To be clear, this is the option that allows you to pair a PS3 controller for use with the PSP Go.

The option is under Settings -> Bluetooth Devices -> Manage Bluetooth Devices -> Add new device. (Or something like that.)

Have you double checked the cable. Those cables crap out quickly, which annoys me since they are getting rare.

It turns out the system wasn't holding a charger either. I charged it overnight and it was dying after 20 minutes of gameplay. I believe the charging port is bad. I initiated a return with the seller. Thanks for the replies everyone.
