Gaming PS5 system and game updates

Hi guys, does any one who own a ps5 retail disc console if I need to update the system and/or games in order to play them offline?

Do you need to update the system? No.

Do you need to update the games? It'll depend on the game. I'm not 100% sure if any of the current launch titles require any updates as of yet (I know Miles Morales doesn't, and I'm fairly certain Demon's Souls doesn't), but that will obviously change as time goes on.

Something that should be noted, however, is that if you wish to use an external HDD for your PS4 games (if you're gonna be doing that), you will have to update the system, so keep that in mind if you ever plan on playin any PS4 games and want to keep space on the internal storage unused.

Thank You for reply me, I tried to play some ps4 retail disc and asked me for system update, also Astro's playroom( the game that came pre installed on ps5 asked me for a system update). That's why I need to make sure b4 I buy ps5 games discs.

Just be aware that the PS5 firmware that is preinstalled on the PS5 has several bugs that are causing issues which the update fixes especially with Miles Morales fucking up the built in storage.

I have no intentions in updating my ps5, that's why I need a confirmation.

However, if you're not updating your PS5 in the hopes for hacks, you should honestly not bother and just do it. Chances are, even if a hack does show up, it's going to be limited to one/early firmware, which means you'll be extremely limited to the games you can play even when hacked. I wouldn't be surprised if a month from now PS5 games will ship requiring the current firmware, in which case you're just going to be stuck with a Spiderman/Demon's Souls machine which isn't particularly useful or fun.

I wont update, is not worthy. There is only 2 or 3 good games, so I rather to wait and not bit the bullet yet.

I had turned off automatic updates in the system menu and deliberately not gone online. But when I put the Demon's Souls disc in, it says it contained an update and insisted on installing it to play. I didn't write down the original FW revision but even after the DS update it is 20.01-14 which is still lower than the two that are being distributed online 20.02-02.25.00

You made a game update? not a system update? or in order to game updates you need a system update also? Looks like I just need a game update and not a system update. Because those games require update 1.14. Games will update the system console to the update included on disc.
Can you play dark souls offline after you updated the game?

i made a system update from the Demon's Soul disc. It wouldn't install without it. I have not conected to the internet. Demon's Souls plays offline after the system update on the disc has been applied and the game installed

Answer my question please: can you play demons souls offline running system fw 20.01-14?

You can redeem codes on Sony's PSN webstore, sure, however you will have to update to the latest firmware if you want to download the game.

I will sacrifice my games disc codes of assassins creed and Spiderman, I wont update my system pass 1.14 and that's why I didn't buy ps5 digital edition(thank god).

That's a shame, but I'll take my chances and update.
