ps4 controller ps button not working on ps3

From my recollection, unless the controller is hooked up to the PS3 via USB cable, there's no way to connect your PS4 controller to the console.

Once again, this is all apart of my recollection. I haven't touched a PS3 console/system in yonks now.

No mod as DS4 doesn't have the function to turn ps3 on.

There is an official way to do it through Bluetooth, but that's not what he's asking about, he's specifically trying to get the PS button to work, which it doesn't normally with PS4/5 controllers.

I've never messed with PS3 CFW, so no clue if there's a way through that.

Sorry to hear, maybe it broke over the years and with Sony updating the firmware. It's a shame the PS3 scene isn't very active, but it's to be expected with its complex architecture.

yeah, true but ive tried every cord on my ps4 aswell with different controllers and the cords still wont work! should i just buy a new cord?

It could be that, to be fair, I have a lot of dead cords kicking around too, lmfao.

I personally just got an old DualShock 3 but they aren't the best quality (Sony cheapened out on them), but there are new alternatives on AliExpress. The Spark N5 looked good and has USB C, but it is pricey...

there's also the retro fighters defender controllers which I have tried, second hand if you can find, but it did feel like there was an ever so slight input delay.

But it does allow the ps button to work within ps3 and ps2 games at least. So that’s a bit better

Not even that, he wants to access the XMB menu on a ps3 using a ps4 controller... Funny how the Wii U has this easy to use homebrew that makes even a dualsense works as if it was a real deal pro controller but there's nothing like that for the PS3.
